# Haḍḍa ArcheoDB — Buddhist Art of Gandhāra (Afghanistan)

> Haḍḍa ArcheoDB is a scholarly open database documenting the Buddhist monastic art of Haḍḍa (Nangarhar, Afghanistan), a major centre of Gandhāran art. It gathers ~478 sculptures, reliefs and stucco fragments from 12 monastery sites — excavated by Jules Barthoux for the DAFA (1926–1928) and later campaigns — with 668 illustrations and full multilingual metadata (French, English, Persian, Chinese). Created and maintained by Dr. Alexandra Vanleene, archaeologist. Free to consult, cite and reuse under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0. Citations and links back to the source are welcome.
