Description :

This fragment of modelling depicts a demon discovering a monk. The demon is standing, seen from three quarters. He is almost entirely human, except for some bovine ears. He is bald and moustached, wearing a short-sleeved tunic that stops above the knee, a kind of exomid. He lifts a tissue from his hands and casts a severe look at the monk he reveals. The latter has a peaceful expression, his meditative expression is not directed at the demon. The face is idealised, gentle and smiling, the head bowed. He is dressed in the saṃghāṭi. There is great finesse in the execution, both in the rendering of the volume of the bodies and in the movement and drapery.
