Description :

The episode represented on this bas-relief takes place inside or in front of a city. The architectural decoration suggests a wall adorned with merlons or a series of small houses on either side of a pyramidal object placed on a large pedestal and protected by an arch. A nimbed, turbaned and jewelled character appears at the bottom right of the relief. This could be Siddhārtha at the Great Departure. However, as the rest of the scene is lost, its identification remains uncertain.

Observation :

The schist reliefs discovered by Barthoux between 1926 and 1928 are mostly from the vicinity of the Great Stūpa K1 of Tapa-i Kafarihā, the south-western part of the main stūpa B12 of Bāgh Gaï (around B13) and the Great Stūpa TK140 of Tapa Kalān.
