Tapa Kalān - Figure
Bodhisattva head of Indian inspiration. The hair is treated in soft wavy strands. He wears a composite tiara, perhaps a foliage hood, and a braided fabric band encloses the bun. It is adorned with a central rectangular bead and surmounted by a pyramidion; two medallions - one of which is well preserved and appears to depict a sun - clasp the headdress at the back. The facial features are idealised - half-closed eyes, a slight smile, full cheeks - and the currently broken earlobes were deformed.
