Tapa Kalān - Figure
This figure could be that of Brahma or a young brahman. The hair, worn medium-length, is treated in wavy parallel furrows. It falls over distorted earlobes and is raised into a uṣnīṣa bun on top of the skull. The idealised face is cold, due to its lack of a smile. It mixes Indian and Western characteristics. Traces of polychromy can be seen: the irises painted in black, looked upwards and a red ring is visible at the base of the hair. He is dressed in a beautiful uttarāsaṅga.
