Bāgh Gaï - Figure
A row of stylised round curls topped by a laurel crown frame the face of this warrior, whose face is heavily eroded. The hairstyle covers the ears, revealing enlarged lobes. The face is Western-inspired: the neck is twisted, the gaze is tormented and turned upwards, the lips are parted and the expression is pathetic.
Observation :We believe that this head has been recorded twice in the "Catalogue of the National Museum of Afghanistan". The first time is on p. 416, K.p. Ha. 1139.206 based on a photo from the private photographic collection of Lolita Nehru, the second time on p. 421, K.p. Ha. 1158.225 from fig. 83a of Barthoux's publication.
