Description :

This yakṣi, or as it is called in the Guimet Museum, Salabhanjika 'Lady at the tree', is delicately executed. On the front of the forehead fall two small round symmetrical curls, while the rest of the hair is almost smooth. Part of the hair seems to be wrapped around the tree so that it becomes one with it. She wears a crown, a kind of circular tissue band, decorated with flowers and wears heavy earrings. Her features are of Indian inspiration: almond-shaped eyes, small nose and smiling mouth. There are still traces of red paint on the turban in particular.

Comparative Study :

This yakṣi can be compared to the Bodhisattva HADB no. 105. Their similar style helps to highlight the links between the schist and stucco schools.
