Description

The hair of this Indian-inspired Bodhisattva is treated in sinuous strands represented by hollowed-out grooves. The head is crowned with a diadem surmounted by a fan-shaped palmette. The elaborate headband is decorated with a central rectangular element, perhaps a pearl, surrounded by circular medallions. Just above the eyebrows, a painted circle represents the ūrṇā.
