Description

This Bodhisattva wears a turban decorated with bands of passementeries, medallions and plaques. Unfortunately, it is very damaged, the entire upper part is missing. The lines of the face are fine, delicate and idealized. The earlobes, although now broken, were deformed.

Observations

We believe that this head has been recorded twice in the "Catalogue of the National Museum of Afghanistan". The first time is on p. 402, K.p. Ha. 1085.152 from fig. 81c of Barthoux's publication, the second time on p. 408, K.p. Ha. 1109.176 based on a photo from the private photographic collection of Lolita Nehru. For the latter, F. Tissot gives the inventory number KM 62-3-466.
