Description

One cannot distinguish a small lock of hair under the veil of this character, however the similarity between this figure and the characters HADB n° 233 suggests that it is a monk. The face is idealized, round and smiling, the eyes half closed.

Observations

This head is recorded twice in the "Catalogue of the National Museum of Afghanistan". The first one P. 427, K.p. Ha. 1179.246 according to Barthoux's fig. 94f. The second is on p. 448, K.p. Ha. 1258.325 from a photograph in Mizuno, 1963: 158.
