Description

The composition of this scene is similar to that of the relief depicting the Interpretation of the Dream on the same riser of the staircase of stūpa no. 1 of Chakhil-i Ghoundi. A royal couple is seated in the centre of the scene under an arch resting on two colonnettes that separate the scene into three spaces, the two side spaces are occupied by two women standing under cut pediments and female figures stand in the balconies that lie between the arches. The queen wears a necklace and a chaperone, from which her hair is pulled back into an upright bun and she holds up what appears to be a flower. The king wears a bracelet, necklace and earrings and a turban with a palmette. Both are facing each other and are palavering. Above them, a third figure is wearing the same headdress as the queen.
