Head of Buddha

Despite deterioration due to the removal of the ūrṇā and breaks in the nose and uṣnīṣa, this Buddha head is quite well preserved. The hair strands are treated in waves framing the forehead. The profile is of Hellenistic inspiration: the right arch section, the bulging eye, the sinuous mouth; the roundness of the face, on the other hand, is in the Indian tradition. The earlobes, also broken, must have been distended.
