Vajrapāṇi

Location
Haḍḍa, lost location
Description
The head and right shoulder of this Vajrapāṇi are missing. Almost naked, he holds the Vajra lightening at chest level in his right hand, and the dhotī or languṭi, with which he is clothed, in his left hand. This appearance is inspired by a Hellenistic deity or hero. One notices the artist's attention to elegantly render the anatomical details: the musculature of the torso, the drawing of the ribs, the narrowing of the waist, and the roundness of the belly.
