The Haḍḍa Archeo Database Project aims to facilitate the study and perpetuate the memory of the archaeological heritage of the buddhist monasteries of Haḍḍa, now entirely lost.

Haḍḍa is the name of a modern village in Afghanistan located twelve kilometres south of the present-day city of Jellālābād, built on the ruins of a small pre-Islamic town on which depended a large Buddhist monastic complex that flourished during the early centuries of the Christian era. The saṃgharama of Haḍḍa were among the great religious centres that hosted Buddhist pilgrims travelling along the Silk Road between India and China through Gandhāra. Alexandra VANLEENE is a doctor in Antiquity Sciences specializing in Gandhāran Buddhist Art and Archaeology, and the founder of the Haḍḍa Archeo Database Project. Her research focuses mainly on the artistic tradition of modelling in the decoration of Buddhist monasteries in Afghanistan, particularly in Haḍḍa, the geographical expansion of Gandhāra art, and the development of its regional characteristics.
